Title

Skin Deep

Artist

Miranda Randel

Location

754 S Wabash Ave (alley)

Artist Statement

Skin Deep is a mutual looking at the cells into the human body. The mural is inspired by different medical drawings of the layers and cells of the skin. The drawings and diagrams in text books and documents were brightly colored which inspired the color pallet used. Miranda Randel is a Chicago-based artist focusing on feminist, LGBTQ+, the human body, and sexual expression artwork. She focuses on painting, drawing, sculpture, and zine-making in her practice. Growing up she always felt out of place and different and just tried to fit in for most of her childhood. As she got older art became her form of expression and way to communicate with others her thoughts and ideas. Her art gains influence from past or present events such as her childhood, mental health, sexuality, body image, and social issues.
